Update on Slave Lake Wildfires

The Wildfire Hazard in Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area is EXTREME. Residents and vistors are urged to take extreme caution in the forested areas.

Update on Slave Lake Wildfires

Old Smith Highway Fire
This wildfire is being held and firefighters are working on extinguishing smoldering ground fires. The evacuation order has been lifted for the area of Old Smith Highway. Residents are now allowed back into the area. Click here for more information from the MD of Lesser Slave River.

Provincial Fire Ban in Effect

PLEASE NOTE that ALL OPEN FIRES ARE BANNED, including campfires in backcountry, random areas or in campgrounds. All permits are suspended or cancelled and no new permits will be issued. Please check which areas are affected: www.AlbertaFireBans.ca.

Fire Advisory In Effect

PLEASE NOTE that due to continued hot and dry conditions in northwest parts of Alberta, a Fire Restriction is NOW IN EFFECT for the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area as of 12:00pm May 21, 2015 until further notice.
