Many volunteer boards, committees, foundations, and commissions provide valuable service to the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River by providing guidance and expertise on specific policy areas or topics.

In addition, one of the duties of a Councillor is to participate in various committees established by Council and meetings of other external boards and commissions to which the municipality is a member. Appointments of elected members are made annually at the organizational meeting of Council held in October or the meeting following the organizational meeting.

The Municipal District of Lesser Slave River is committed to representation on all of the M.D's boards and committees that is reflective of, and responsive to, our municipality's residents. Public participation contributes to the work of municipal government and provides an important service to the community when a variety of issues, concerns, and viewpoints, are presented.
