Crisis & Recovery Crisis Presentation

MULTIMEDIA LIBRARY | CRISIS PRESENTATION

On November 22, 2011, Reeve Denny Garratt was invited to share the story of Lesser Slave River at the annual Alberta Association of Municipal Districts & Counties (AAMDC) convention at the Shaw Center in Edmonton. Following a compelling preamble from Reeve Garratt, the interactive presentation entitled "Crisis & Recovery from a Municipal Perspective" played to a packed hall of 800 fellow Reeves, Mayors, Councillors and elected officials. The response from the crowd was silence. Then applause. Then a standing ovation.

To our neighbours, this presentation provides a comprehensive glimpse into Lesser Slave River's battle with – and recovery from – one of Canada's most significant natural disasters. To locals and those who rushed to our aid, it is a poignant reminder of what we endured and how far we've come.
