In addition to the recycling services offered at the municipal transfer sites and landfill facility, the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River maintains one recycling station which operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day, in partnership with the Town of Slave Lake.
Located near the Town of Slave Lake Shop and the airport, this recycling station accepts the following materials as noted below:
Tin Cans
- Rinsed, with label removed
- Small metal items
Non-glass Deposit Containers
- Includes all juice boxes
Glass
- Rinsed
- Metal lids must be deposited in tin can bin
Plastic Film
- Plastic bags
- Clean plastic film
- No meat or food wrappers
Plastic and Milk Containers
- #2 plastic only (check bottom of container for the number)
- Includes: milk jugs and cartons
- Caps removed, clean, and crushed
Newsprint
- Includes flyers, newspaper, magazines and telephone books
Mixed Paper
- Includes photocopy paper, letter quality paper, shredded paper, envelopes (includes window-style), and paper labels from cans and jars
- May contain staples and paper clips
Cardboard (includes box board)
- All plastic removed
- All boxes flattened
