Reeves Welcome
Reeve's Welcome
On behalf of my colleagues on MD Council and the residents of Lesser Slave River, I extend a warm invitation to explore our beautiful landscapes, visit our thriving communities and enjoy our family-centered events and facilities.
Our municipality is vast, diverse and boasts some of the most naturally beautiful parks and open spaces in the province. We’re located in the heart of northern Alberta, and are easily accessible via Highway 2 north which bisects our communities from east to west. The Lesser Slave River region spans over 10,000 square kilometers and is home to approximately 3,000 residents and six active community hubs. Surrounding the Town of Slave Lake, our municipality works closely with the town council and administration to preserve the natural beauty and economic prosperity of our shared region.
Visitors to the Lesser Slave River area will enjoy the pristine beauty of our lakes and natural areas, our boreal forests, our plentiful populations of wildlife and migratory birds, and our rich agricultural regions.
Our region is economically prosperous and poised for future growth with thriving oil and gas, forestry and agriculture industries.
Whether you come for a visit or are considering a more permanent move to the Lesser Slave River region, you’ll be surrounded by a resilient and close-knit community of people in an area of matchless beauty. You’ll find yourself in a place of unspoiled adventure where sports, recreation and leisure activities of every variety span all four seasons.
I invite you to explore a truly rugged and real setting with a robust local economy, a firm commitment to growing strong communities, and a collective vision to preserve our significant natural assets for generations to come.
