Fire Services Weekly Update

The Lesser Slave River Regional Fire Service is committed to protecting life, property and the environment from fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters and other emergencies. As such, the department issues a weekly report on all investigations, fire prevention activities and other Fire Services news of importance to the residents of the Lesser Slave River region.

  • Fire in Christianson Court - TSL

  • Burn Brush Pile for MD at Canyon Creek Water Reclamation Site
  • Mulcher head Maintenance (Change Couplers, Replace broken Teeth)

  • Firesmart Quarterly Update Meeting
  • Truck assignments for Hall 1
  • Gear List for new Truck

  • Bobcat taken to Marten Tower and Plowed snow for Communications system upgrade – Forestry Tower
  • Forestry manager meeting – regarding special teams
  • RCMP meeting – regarding special teams

  • Electronic signs cleaned, charged, taken to Hall 5 for storage
  • All Dangerous Goods equipment to Hall 1 for inventory and testing (February is DG month for Training)
  • 131 De-mob and convert to Heavy Rescue/Hazmat
  • Medical gear re-distribute on Hall 1 units for better operability
  • Friday busy day for calls (Lift assist, Structure fire, Fish fryer Fire, MVA on Hwy 754)
  • Hall Clean up and All Unit Truck Checks Completed

Hall 1

  • Practice was the third of three – Medical – CPR/AED/Oxygen/Spinal Immobilization/Ambulance orientation
  • Ground SAR – monthly training meeting
  • Finish tanker rollover prop
  • 4 calls in one day on Friday including Structure fire (very close call), MVA Hwy 754 – km 22, outdoor fire (fish fryer)

  • Practice: Second half of Dangerous goods training

  • Practice: Second half of Dangerous goods training

Hall 4

  • Practice: No practice

Hall 5

  • Practice: Second half of Dangerous goods training
  • Flatbush sign on building installed – special thanks to the Slave Lake Firefighters Society for supplying this sign. Repaired lights on 451, 351. 321 fixed wiper issues. Discussed
  • MD snow removal at Smith.
  • All halls cleaned as required
  • Ground SAR Moved back to Hall 2

Other

1 motor vehicle accident, 1 structure fire (very close casll – minimum damage), outdoor fire, 3 duty officer callouts, 3 medical assist. There were 4 responses on Friday starting at 620 am and finishing at 1030 pm, this was a long day for firefighters.
