Fire Services Weekly Update

The Lesser Slave River Regional Fire Service is committed to protecting life, property and the environment from fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters and other emergencies. As such, the department issues a weekly report on all investigations, fire prevention activities and other Fire Services news of importance to the residents of the Lesser Slave River region.

  • St. Francis pancake lunch - cooks

  • Truck fire – Southshore

  • Special teams lesson plans
  • Prep ICS 200 course
  • Lake FM – backup studio – Mitsue – ON HOLD
  • SAR provincial exercise mtg

  • Wind event assessment
  • Clean up trees blocking roads TSL/MD
  • Firewood left at side of roads
  • Frostfest Event - firewood

  • Hall 1 practice – Hazmat training (Canutec manual, spills, containment – Pumps – decon and PPE)
  • Confined space course Thrusday / Friday (rescue) – 18 people TSL, MD, Fire service
  • Chainsaw training
  • EMR scenario practices

  • Regular weekly meetings with RCMP, EMS, Forestry
  • Radio plan for Marten Mountain building change out with Forestry
  • FS summer interview
  • Assist at Marten Mountain radio switchover – gate removal, battery move

Hall 1

  • Sort out all equipment for unit 131 Heavy rescue and hazmat
  • Genset removed from Marten Tower
  • Assessment of Red Cross seacan supplies

Hall 2

  • Oxygen / aed / spinal

Hall 3

  • First aid / CPR

Hall 4

  • Practice: none

Hall 5

  • Practice – First aid / CPR

Visit all rural halls, cleanup, maintenance. Radio serial numbers, dropped off old radios to MD 124. New MD maps for all trucks

1 duty officer callout, 1 vehicle fire (MD124), 2 medical assists - Widewater. Slower callout schedule, big training week.
