Fire Services Weekly Update

The Lesser Slave River Regional Fire Service is committed to protecting life, property and the environment from fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters and other emergencies. As such, the department issues a weekly report on all investigations, fire prevention activities and other Fire Services news of importance to the residents of the Lesser Slave River region.

  • Visit all schools
  • Learn about Forestry aerial ignition trailer

  • Contractor meetings with local forestry contractors – re: interoperability, regional cooperation
  • Meeting with public works staff – TSL

  • Prep sprinkler heads for deployment, new adapters
  • Quick attack loads, unit 161
  • Thermal image scanner – all winter fires that we burned
  • Address familiarization, driver training

  • Hall 1 practice – 161 driving, vehicle safety, scene safety
  • Driving practice for all drivers new unit 161 (3 hr minimum requirement)
  • Pump training units 161, 151, 251

  • RCMP – arson investigation
  • Forestry – year start up meetings
  • Forestry gear prep

Other: Visit all rural halls, cleanup, maintenance, all truckchecks

2 duty officer callouts, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 1st wildland fire of the year (23 Ha), 1 commercial shop structure. This week used hundreds of firefighter hours to help the public, extinguish fires, and cleanup the aftermath. One fire alone used over 200 hours
