
Fire Services Weekly Update
The Lesser Slave River Regional Fire Service is committed to protecting life, property and the environment from fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters and other emergencies. As such, the department issues a weekly report on all investigations, fire prevention activities and other Fire Services news of importance to the residents of the Lesser Slave River region.
- 6 inspections done by the team.
- 4 school visits.
- Roland Michener Secondary job preparation class final testing on confined space entry
- BBQ truck ready and delivered for Friends for Learning fundraiser
- Inspection / emergency plan for NLC grad (Thanks to Kyle Paulson for all his help)
- Firesmart crew – mowing defendable corridors – Hwy 2
- Firesmart – dead and down trees in Canyon Creek block by campground
- Meetings with Alberta Health Services regarding medical co-responses
Emergency calls as follows:
- Duty officer callouts – 6
- Wildfire calls – Smith x 4
- Motor vehicle accidents – 1 by Lawrence Lake, 1 km 24 on Hwy 88
- Medical walk in at Hall 1 – grinder to the face
- Search and Rescue callout by Jackpines northeast of Slave Lake – 1 person found unharmed
These callouts saw an amazing display of teamwork and multi-agency cooperation. We are proud to be part of such an amazing regional protective services group.
