Council for the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124 approved the 2018 preliminary budget at its meeting on December 13, 2017.
Since the start of this school year alone, the MD has recorded a number of instances of motorists passing a school bus when red lights are flashing, or otherwise ignoring standard school bus safety protocol. Help keep our kids safe by heeding school bus signals while driving. Flashing AMBER lights mean use caution if passing a bus.
The official results have been tabulated for Lesser Slave River's October 16, 2017 municipal election.
With nine months of potential snow here in Alberta, we frequently get heavy snow in early fall or late spring that can greatly affect our trees and shrubs. Most of them are well adapted to winter conditions but having sudden heavy snow when trees have not completed or are just starting their growing season can be devastating. Most of our spruces, pines, and fir have flexible branches and shed snow relatively easy, but coniferous trees often have their tops broken by heavy snow.
The MD is looking for interested residents to volunteer on a number of boards. Every October, Council holds an organizational meeting and appoints Councillors and Members-at-Large to represent the MD on various organizations across the region. Most appointments are for a one-year term. Have some time and expertise to share? Have a look at the following Member-at-Large vacancies.
The MD is pleased to announce the launch of its new Bench Dedication Program. Under this program, an important date, a personal message, or the name of a loved one can now accompany park benches that will be placed in scenic locations across the MD.
