Fire Services Weekly Update

The Lesser Slave River Regional Fire Service is committed to protecting life, property and the environment from fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters and other emergencies. As such, the department issues a weekly report on all investigations, fire prevention activities and other Fire Services news of importance to the residents of the Lesser Slave River region.

  • Firesmart quarterly plan for completed summer work and projected winter work
  • Firesmart Committee meeting

  • Live Fire block remove dead and down
  • Live fire block burn multiple brush piles

  • Fire, EMS, RCMP at MVA by Widewater head on collision with extrication
  • Cardiac call at scene of MVA, Crew worked with EMS to assist patient care
  • SAR, Fire, RCMP Search for missing chains at MVA by Widewater
  • SAR, FIRE, RCMP evidence search through town (Boston pizza incident)
  • Return forestry firefighting gear for the year

  • Duty Officer calls - 4
  • Pick up vs Power poll North on Hwy 88 (9 Members)
  • Head-on MVA near Widewater with extrication - fatal (20 Members)
  • Cardiac call at scene of MVA (bystander in a vehicle)
  • SAR evidence search at MVA (12 Members)
  • SAR evidence search through town (15 Members)
  • Smith EMS Call out – medical - fatal)(crew in Smith)
  • Flatbush pick up vs moose MVA (Flatbush crew)

  • Budget/1-1/ Service Levels

  • Practice: one on ones, catch up on skills sheet
  • Switched out an air bottler, got some more reciprocating blades
  • Worked on the reciprocating saw blade holder

  • Practice: one on ones, budgets, truck checks
  • 321 in for routine service, electrical problem in training room (called Jim Faulk & Ed Copeland) Inspections: Smith School, Arena, and a walk through the new complex. Booked a fire drill with school (FS to go)
  • Washed hall floors, 351, cleaned bathroom. Returned 321. Talked with Fred regarding Call previous night and the way it went down. Removed Forestry gear. Returned 123 to Mitsue

  • Practice: Gear check and Equipment Familiarization and one on ones. Talked with Rick regarding the open house, equipment required, regional training

  • Practice: one on ones, fire behaviour

  • EMR prep for ACP write for 1 member (whole crew trained)
  • 1 member ACP testing

  • Did all the wording for the website revamps
  • Confirmed Flag and prices (replaced by cleaner)
  • Meetings with Alanis(MD 124), and Audrey (TSL) regarding the wording for Website
  • Got gear for FB together
  • Called 9 people regarding the air brakes course
  • Delivered smile cookies
  • Got gear for firefighter
  • took all prevention materials to Mitsue for storage
