Fire Services Update

The Lesser Slave River Regional Fire Service is committed to protecting life, property and the environment from fire, hazardous materials, natural disasters and other emergencies. As such, the department issues a weekly report on all investigations, fire prevention activities and other Fire Services news of importance to the residents of the Lesser Slave River region.

  • 1 Medical Assist- 321 8 ST SE
  • 1 Duty Officer –Mr. Mike’s
  • 5 MVA –HWY 2 40 KM S SL/HWY 2 & Athabasca River/Lawerence Lake/Lakeview Inn & Suites/HWY 2 & TWP RD 722A

  • Met with OH&S about drainage issue around the FD
  • Gas detectors, bump testing and calibrations
  • Finished all mandatory FF testing and skill assessments
  • Worked on 2019 Schedules -Completed January newsletter
  • Visited FB and Smith halls
  • New Fuel cards for Units 111 & 131
  • Switched out keys in Thompson Landing Lock Box
  • Picked up new batteries for stock cabinet
  • Cleaned up bunker gear room
  • Completed fire investigations Tamarack Road fire
  • Gathered information for AB Safety Code officer training

  • Last Training Day before holidays Hall 1-Pump Training/Driver Training/MVA
  • Hall 2- Year end meeting
  • Driver Training 2 new Drivers
  • Special Teams Review
  • SAR-Bush Meeting year end wrap up

  • Maintenance on 3 GOA SPU trailers
  • Burn piles in Canyon Creek
  • NLC WUI Advanced Course Development
  • Teach ICS 200 Course
  • Completed change over from Firesmart info social media accounts
  • Staffing Planning
  • NLC WUI Advanced Course content
